Santa’s Angels Christmas Tree Fashion Show 2017

Christmas Tree Fashion Show Fundraiser

Sandpiper Studios was invited to photograph a special Fundraising Christmas Tree Fashion Show for Santa’s Angels at the Delta Hotel in Charlottetown P.E.I. on November 10th, 2017.

Organized by Krista Giddings, 8 different models showcased their Christmas Tree Dresses. Funds raised from the show go towards Santa’s Angels. They are a group of volunteers who organize and fundraise for a surprise Christmas morning visit by Santa & his elves to hundreds of people in the Charlottetown area. They hope to reach those who are not able to provide Christmas gifts and food for their children. Santa and the elves bring food, toys and gifts, customized based upon the needs of the individual or family.

Co-hosted by Louise Martin and Jay Scotland of CBC PEI.

The evening proved to be very popular with guests enjoying nibbles, drinks and the Silent Auction.

k.d. Lang Concert

k.d. Lang’s Ingénue 25th Anniversary Concert at the Eastlink Centre, P.E.I.

k.d. Lang was at the packed Eastlink Centre last Friday night and if you weren’t there, you missed an incredible concert. This barefooted lady has sung her heart out for over 25 years.

Caroline Savoie, an Acadian from New Brunswick opened the night with a beautiful set of French songs featuring her robust voice and soulful guitar.

The backing musicians/singers for k.d. were top notch. The sound system was the best I have heard in a few years. There wasn’t a bad seat in the house – the clarity of her voice and music was superb as well as the stage set. She sang a few of my favourites, Miss Chatelaine, plus the incomparable Hallelujah, nobody sings it better!

Check out our events page if you’re interested in Sandpiper Studios being there for your special day.

Melanie & Jackson • Wedding in New Glasgow

West meets East at this picturesque wedding in New Glasgow

wedding in new glasgow

As some of you might know, our (grown up) baby girl, Melanie, married her soulmate, Jackson, last weekend. It was a wonderful week of wedding preparations and getting to know our new family for this special wedding in New Glasgow.

Melanie moved out to Alberta in October 2015 to pursue her nursing career. She was fortunate to meet members of the Leussink family and was then introduced to Jackson. They knew it was meant to be from the beginning. At the reception, Melanie admitted:

“I had my wedding party picked out after two months of dating!”

Although Mother Nature didn’t quite cooperate with our plans of an outdoor wedding, that didn’t dampen any spirits.

“Looks like it’s going to be a cloudy day today, I think God should have a better view at the church, so we will see you all there at 2pm!”

The wedding ceremony took place at New Glasgow Christian Church, our family church we grew up with. It was a beautiful service with Barry Clark and Tim Edwards giving their words of love and encouragement. Jason and Katie shared an emotional song. And a new tradition of joining families with the Albertan and Islander dirt.

And of course, the Mustang burn out and send off of Mr. & Mrs. Leussink!

The wedding party headed over to Cymbria Lions Club in South Rustico for some pictures before the reception started at 6pm. The rain held off, so we were able to capture our pictures outside!

Cymbria volunteers were amazing and the roast beef and turkey dinners were great! As dessert came out, the touching speeches began from parents of the bride and groom, best man, maid of honour and brother of the bride. The reception would not have been as fun as it was without the great emcee skills of Martin Dutton!

For those of you that know Janet, you know that she is very talented in writing poems for special events. She did not disappoint for her baby girl’s wedding day. Read her poem below for their love story. 🙂

Next up, Melanie & Jackson share their first dance as newly weds! The night continues on the dance floor.
